SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you define the master data template for a utility product. This template is used to create or change the master data required for billing the product. Billing is usually the last step of the sales process and is performed automatically by the workflow.

The most frequent objects to be created or changed are as follows:

  • Utility installation
  • Device installation
  • Installation facts
  • Utility contract with move-in

Some of these objects may already exist, depending on the customer or premise. If this is the case, the system uses them (and changes them if necessary). The objects business partner, contract account, connection

object, and premise, are created by the system during order generation; as such they do not have to be created here:

If necessary, you can use the template to change them.

To create a new master data template, proceed as follows:

  1. In the initial screen, enter a name for the new template. Choose the master data template category NEWCUST and then Create.
  2. In the header data, enter the utility product to which your new master data template refers. The system then automatically reads all the parameters available in the sales process (the field of the utility product set). These parameters can only be used to fill the node attributes.
  3. Maintain the individual nodes of the master data template. In the hierarchy area on the left-hand side of the screen, you can find the master data template node of the master data template category you selected. You can derive information about the status of the nodes from the icons on the screen:
  • If a node has a mandatory attribute that has not yet been assigned a value then it has a red icon. The allocation of icons also observes the hierarchy of the master data template category. For example, mandatory attributes with lower-level nodes that have not yet been assigned a value are also given a red icon.

  • A grey icon indicates inactive master data template nodes. You can activate and copy these depending on the cardinality specified in the master data template category.

  • A green icon indicates master data template nodes that have all the required entries.

  1. In the hierarchy, select an active node and maintain its attributes.
  2. If you want to supply an attribute with a parameter then ensure that the parameter has the same name as the characteristic that you generated for the corresponding set type. There are standard parameters for maintaining attributes. These are as follows:
  • SALES_PARTNER for the business partner

  • SALES_VKONT for the contract account

  • SALES_HAUS for the connection object

  • SALES_VSTELLE for the premise.

At this point, you must also ensure that the all the attributes have been maintained for the objects. You do this in the master data template for the sales order/quotation functions.

Since the general master data template categories are already provided by SAP, you can now construct all the master data templates to be used in your company at once. In addition, you can view and maintain existing master data templates.
