In this IMG activity, you generate characteristics and classes for the configuration of utility products in sales and distribution documents.

To configure a utility product, you must generate a class for each set category required, and then allocate it to a material in the configuration profile. You then allocate the material to your utility product.

The following allocations must exist in the system:

Utility product -> material -> configuration -> class.

  1. You must have allocated a material to your utility product.
  2. The material must be configurable. To ensure this, use a material type tthat is permitted by the configuration (for example KMAT in the standard system). Alternatively, set the configurable material indicator in the material master of Basic Data screen 2.

After you have generated the classes, generate the the configuration profile for your material and assign the following classes:

To be able to use the material in a sales and distribution document, you must maintain the following data and perform the following checks:

  1. Maintain the sales views in the material master. Specify a delivery plant in Sales and Distribution screen 1 and maintain at least one condition.
  2. In the material master of Sales and Distribution screen 2, specify an item category group for the configuration. For example, in the standard system, the item category group for configurable services without delivery is LEIC.
  3. Call the function Create customer order and verify that you can call the configuration for your material in the order item.
If this does not work, it means IS-U Sales Processing does not function for your material/utility product.
